Home & Tired But.....

(Call-o, Jeremy and me with my Ever So Happy to be having a picture taken face)

                                            (Roger, Jeremy & Amy)

                                                         (Jeremy being a dork)

He's done. My son completed his degree and I was able to be there to celebrate with him.....cannot express how truly proud I am, that might be from keeping up with graduating seniors all weekend...pretty sure my liver is bleeding and I'm still trying to figure out how I ended up taking a "Salad Tossing" poll with twenty-two year olds and with my lips on the shaved head of a sixty-five year old....complete with a tattooed face on the back, the back of his head. Oh and there was just enough hair on....the back of his head, to form a handlebar mustache on the face of said tattoo, in a bar, in Louisville Kentucky....um, ouch. Oh and believe me, there's more.

Home and tired but so very proud of my son and in some strange way, the way we tend to make our own frames for moments like these. No stuffed cap and gown bears, no balloons or giant cards, we have laughter, head shaking and memories that unlike an album full of photos never fade. I'm now off to wash the Vegas airport, (don't ask) off me and try and find me a liver bandage.

You're back.

Not to worry about liver damage. It gets better with a day off--or half a day.

Nice bird in those pictures.

I hope you managed some rare old Bourbon on your trip. Our mutual friend, Tom Johnson, calls it Kentucky Merlot.

Charlie,
So are you! I met with Tom at the beautiful and historic Seelbach Hotel but seeing as I am not a Merlot drinker...of either type I stuck to Gin & Tonics while I was smuggling him in a couple bottles of Tempier Bandol Rouge. We had a blast.

Nice to see you Charlie, was worried I was being boycotted or somethin'

Boycotted? That's so sexist, so retro. Has anyone ever been girlcotted?

Well come to think of it, maybe, one time in college, around graduation... yeah maybe something happened that could have been described as "girlcotting" but it had nothing to do with leaving me alone. I think. It's hard to remember through the [ahem] haze. Of time, I mean (yeah, that's it). ;-)

But seriously, it's good to have you back. RE: your liver - you have nearly a whole month to get it back in shape before we see you in June.

BTW - did Tom drink the Rose? Were you able to get him to switch sides?

John,
Maybe Girlcotted was the word I should have used, although I guess it works either way. I was sure my admitting I kissed a girl...and taking a style award had put me on the poop list with you cats. Don't get me wrong I would do it again, (both the kissing...was only a couple times and honestly, damn...and the award)but was kinda freaked that you guys had all left me. Would be lying if I said it wasn't breaking my heart. So John and Charlie, thanks for popping by, I missed you both so and felt like part of my family was missing. Seems as if I have come to need you all so it is like a breath of fresh air to see you again.

No one abandoned you, it was the great blogger outage of 2011

Congratulations Jeremy! What joy this post exudes - love it!

Feeling you on the Vegas airport cooties. I lived in Vegas for 2 years, 6 months & 14 days. That was enough.

Yes, honey - the blogger crash of 2011 is now reverberating into global crisis and has folks screaming it's the end of the world and only Wordpress can save us all.

Welcome home!

TWG,
So glad to hear it! As someone that finds it more inspiring to write for others than just write...it's so helpful to know you are still reading. Thanks for that.

Val,
Dude, Vegas sucks. What a depressing shithole that airport is. After traveling all day that was the last place I wanted to be...yuck. I noticed the crash while I was away and admit that it freaked me out a bit, amazing how dependent I've become on this space. Amazing and a little scary! Thanks and I shall pass on the congrats to the kid!

My girly feelings are terribly hurt you didn't call on your way through. Was just telling the boy about you and how we need to get down there one of these days when my world stops spinning madly.

re: liver damage... eh well, we all gotta go one way or another. Might as well live it up while we're here!

Another Day of Crazy,
I'm so sorry, we were only there for an hour and a half and I promise you, I was in no shape to visit or chat...bone tired and feeling a little sad from leaving my baby in Kentucky. I promise that next time I will call you!
