Your Turn

So I'm sure all 14 of you have noticed that I have been a tad quiet the past week or two and I can tell you it is not that I am suffering from my bouts with writers (oh and that is with these " " jobies) block. No I am just wondering what it is going to take to get you folks that read and never talk to me to...talk to me.

I've tried it all; shared my stories, my bits of knowledge about French wine, bore my soul...shared my tears and joy. Hell I even wrote you all naughty letters and still....silent. I'm naked here kids, pounding away on my crusty little laptop trying my best to entertain you and I see you visiting, notice when you stop by but you look upon my nakedness and walk away without so much as a word.....sigh.

So I've decided to go on strike. You shall not hear (um, read) a single peep from me until at least one of you, (Connecticut I'm looking at you) quiet kids says something. Doesn't have to be here, if you go to my profile there is a way to email and no one will ever know....but just know that when I sit up until 3:00 AM bearing myself and you just look and walk away...well it gives this already neurotic chunky girl even bigger issues.

So there you have it regular readers, if I don't return, if I go by way of my beloved HoseMaster of Wine, (damn I miss him) then you know who to blame.

So there.
Humpf

That or I've been on deadline for my real job and simply have not had time to post....

One of those two reasons is why I have been missing in action.

Roll call!

Crazy girl? Here!

Why should you let Connecticut bother you? No one likes them anyway.

Oh and Sam, honey, if your laptop is crusty might I suggest you tell Call-O to use *his* computer for watching midget pornos? lol.

Samantha Dugan said...

Another Day of Crazy,
You always say somethin'! Oh and good call on the midget porn, least get a squeegee or some Windex right?!

Michael,
Oh they don't bother me love. I just happened to look at the date of my last post and saw it had been 4 days...eek. Not going to stay in the top 20 at that rate. I've just been trying to focus on work stuff so there has not been enough time to spend here. Seeing as so many of us bloggers talk about lurkers I thought it might be a funny way to make an excuse for not posting....

Peep! :)

Great job, Samantha.

East coast is checking in. McDuff is wandering around NYC at industry tastings otherwise he'd check in.

Ma'am! Colorado all present and accounted for, Ma'am. Of course when you're back off your strike I'll be back in Italy where I was when first found you in March writing about that dirty up against the wall Chardonnay. Thank you for stopping by my strange world today, by the way!

V,
Ha! Got one. Rad. But um, I know who you are and I have one quibble, "I work in the best wine store in southern California"....ahem.
Thanks for posting. Back to work for me.

TWG,
Awe kid you talk to me from time to time and I dig you for it. Just trying to post without posting but it would be funny as hell if people believed me and I ended up with all my glorious people checking in!

Maryland present and reporting for duty.

Connecticut can s*ck it. ;-)

Valerie & Jon,
Big, sloppy kisses to you both!

dude I am totally a reader. not much of a poster though. :-) There isn't much that I miss about my last job, but I do miss pestering you, ronnie, and a few others.

Cheers!

Samantha Dugan said...

Awe Edgar I didn't know you read me. See? This is what makes us bloggers nutty. Going back to work!
Oh and I miss your pestering too Edgar, even if you looked like you were gonna wizz each time I talked to you!

Le Petit Village here (as usual... I'm such an apple polisher. And I would be happy to fly to Connecticut and get all scrappy for you)

Illinois checking in here. Present and accounted for. In fact it is 6:25 A.M.!!!!! Yes ma'am, I stayed up all night just to respond to your blog. I am fucking tired and can't even put two words together to form a letter,.....argh----see what I mean. Now take my medicine and go to sleep.

Since the post wasn't directed at me, I won;t comment. But Sam, don't start looking like you need the feedback or the Hosemaster might come back and accuse you of having become a poodle, which, judging by my very own standard poodle, isn't all bad...

By the way, vinofictions may soon go silent as well--a convergence of too busy and too few reasons to keep it up (if you think you have silent readers, you should see how quiet my place is).

You guys are cracking me up....and making me think I ought not fire off 5 minute posts during deadline. I thinks it's awesome that you all would chime in here but this was more of a joke post, kind of poking fun at neediness of bloggers, (ala Poodles Thomas) including myself at times. I do have a person in CT that is on all the time and while I do wonder who they are I'm just happy that they find something here worth visiting. So my wonderful regular readers, put you dukes down this was just a not-so-funny funny post that was meant to be cleared up at the end of the piece....deadline. I've not posted because I have other writing to do. That's it, plain and simple. But thank you all for stroking me when you thought I needed it!

Thomas,
I need to get over to your place and get caught up....

Better late than never...Los Olivos checking in.

Say it isn't so. Say you are just teasing me. Say you really love me and would never leave me in the lurch like Jose up in Hosayburg or wherever the hell it is that he calls home.

Tell me that you are not consigning me to lifetime of reading Catavino and Brix Chix. Promise me that you will always be here before me and after me and forever. Otherwise, I might just pout.

Oh, and the other night, when our group of friends went out to dinner, the dinner I wrote about in my blog that no one but you reads on a daily basis, there was a rush to drink Sambuca after dinner. I suppose you like that stuff as well. I stayed with the dregs of the Cabernet.

Edgar said...

hey... if your biggest account demands it, you better wizz on command. haha.

Samantha Dugan said...

Pastis Daddy,
I do. I do love you and will be here for as long as I can hold out and I do loves me all things anise flavored!
Just tied up with work...

There seems to be a contingency of quiet, but I'll break my silence for you. Be thankful readers are stopping by and taking in your words. Sometimes, there's simply no time for comments. Deadlines.

And I suspect Dear Samantha, that though you say this post was done in jest, there is a thread of truth running through. And IMHO being needy once in a while is perfectly okay and doesn't make you weak. Take your time and write when you can and know we'll still be here for you when you do, hanging on your every consonant and vowell.

k2 said...

K2 from KY late as usual. I've been pretty bad getting back to everyone lately. Ramping up for the holidays 'round the stores is no excuse, though I've been FB'n you (sorry, that sounds all kinds of wrong, doesn't it?). Have no fear though, we are all still here.

Tobias said...

Even if you weren't very serious, this brought about a little sting of lurker's shame.

Marcia Macomber said...

Here, ma'am! Sorry, been buried in deadlines, too. No sign of let up either. (Sigh.) Don't go by way of the dodo. We'll be patient.

Thomas said...

Charlie,

You should read the passage in my first book that talks about the time my wife and I visited the Island of Samos and a local took to us. He showed us the island during a day that included frequent stops at tavernas where we were forced to join the patrons at each place for a round of Ouzo, the Greek anise-flavored counterpart to Pastis.

I have never had ouzo since and have no plans for it in my future.

Texas is reading, and yes, people in Texas can read!

Okay friends and others I have gone back and made bold the part of this post that was intended to be the message. I so adore those of you that sincerely read and support me here and I assure you guys that this was just to explain why I had been away. Thought it might be funny to poke a stick at those that are truly needy but clearly I failed in my execution. Sorry for that you all! No need to fear, I'm not going anywhere and I shan't forget what is truly valuable...honesty and all these voices that are willing to lend their support and heart to what it is I do here. Thank you. I guess I am in fact needy in a way, I NEED to remember to appreciate my true supporters and stay away from the silly and desperate for attention. No more cracking on the lonely begging bloggers....they have enough issues

Duh - I got it. Deadlines suck. I've got a TTB one coming up and it is no coinkydink that I haven't posted anything to my own blog (where the crickets harmonize very loudly) in the last two weeks. Call the waaaah-mbulance.

See you next week, where we shall indulge in our shared love of anise/fennel/licorice-flavored beverages in the faces of the non-believers.

Oh, and, um... checking in from Sonoma here :-)

(And honest to goodness my verification is "nojiz" - it's hell getting old but who needs the reminder?)

Alfonso Cevola said...

hey, sometimes life gets in the way of the all too important job of blogging.

no big deal. It'll all be here when you are ready. or not. too much pressure lately in bloggerdom.

at the end of a day, it's just a blog. not a slam, just a resigned expiration after too many days of work withs and late night wine dinners. and , 'tis the season, to top it all off.

Samantha Dugan said...

John,
Cannot wait amigo and sorry about the jizz reminder!

Alfonso,
"Too much pressure in the blog world" could not agree more. All this turmoil and drama over a blog? I'm not playing in that sandbox, no way no how. Just having fun and hoping that once in awhile I am able to reach someone...turn them on to trying something new or even being open to it.

Kinda wishing I had the drive to bury this silly post as what I thought was funny has been spun and twisted in a way that I never intended. But alas, just a ranting blog so no harm...no foul.

Thanks for the roll call kids, was very sweet and cracked me up!
