Hiatus

This is all just too demanding
Too much work
Exhausting

So many posts
So many hours
So many wines
So much of myself shared....

I'm just spent
I'm just tired
I'm just kidding

Crazy week; newsletter deadline, anniversary, hubby's birthday, friends in town.....I just have not had the time or energy to post and clearly it is weighing heavy on me. I am still here, not going by way of the Dodo or the HoseMaster...just caught up in like life and junk. I was feeling all guilty so I thought just in case someone out there is waiting, wanting or worried that I've grown tired of writing about wines, the business or every bloggers favorite subject, myself....wanted to assure you that I have not. Just one of those weeks.

My Gorgeous Samantha,

OK, this isn't funny. I took a "Hiatus" and everyone thought I'd quit. Now you explain your "Hiatus" and claim you're not. Makes me nervous. You know I'm a worrier. It's why I have cases of Boner in a Can stored in my closet.

I saw the dreaded "H" word under your name on my blog roll and I about swallowed my tongue. You're killing me, Love. Charlie's probably a goner.

I love you!

Your HoseMaster

ABSOLUTELY! After all, our lives are not really lived on these pages. Habby b-day to Call-o BTW.

"habby" oh WTF

Michael,

Just so many hours right? I always get a little hiccup in my flow during newsletter time. Not sure what happens and it's not like I write that much for the newsletter, just that deadline things seems to choke me.

Ron,

Doesn't feel very good does it?! I was sitting here this morning thinking I had better say something and of course didn't have time to really write anything....not like anyone is hovering over their computers wondering where I am or anything but I feared one of my 16 readers might think I was bailing. Just a super busy week. I am sure Charlie is far too busy to be checking in on my silly musings all the time, maybe I will have a post up before he even see this!

John,

Thank you for understanding Love and for the giggle, "Habby" cracked my ass up!

Dear Ms. Duggan--

I am, of course, too busy to check up on your occasional musings all the time. I would bet that I don't check more than two or three times a day.

And why the HMW would think I am a goner is beyond me. I am alive and well, thank you.

I am never on hiatus. I publish a monthly magazine. I'm lucky if I can string together four or five days to get away. Any longer than that and my work comes with me.

Not that I mind. Much better to be sitting up late nights in Provence writing than staying at home. But, hiatus? A goner? As John Kelly said so righteously, WTF?

As I recently told that guy who thinks I have gone somewhere, I would rather he, and you equally, write when there is something really involving to write about.

What you, and that other guy, are doing is real writing, creative, from the heart writing. It does not need a daily or every other day outlet. It needs to be set loose only when the muse beckons. Otherwise, leave the pen where it is and save the good stuff for us.

Sir Charles,

I think it is blogger megalomania that makes us believe that people are waiting desperately for us to bestow our words upon them. That or we are afraid that they will stop checking....

And goddamn it Charlie there is only one g in Dugan.
I still love you
Sam

--I knew that. I was just kidding.

--I wasn't talking to you. I was talking to that other one--the one with two "g's" in her last name.

--Sorry I was seeing double today.

--When did you change the spelling of your last name? Please change it back.

Okay well that just made you even more adorable Sir Charles....

Sam the quality of your writing is much appreciated as well as your productivity. The title was a bit scary especially in light of Peter's retirement and the Monkey's increasingly infrequent posts.

TWG,

Well that was damn sweet. I am not going anywhere, just a bunch of demands this past week and it has sapped my energy which is why I thought I might say something just in case anyone was worried that I might quit. Rather humbling and flattering to hear that anyone gives a damn either way so.....thank you.

thought you were going to use the "volcano" excuse. But that is more out of the Hosemasters playbook than you. Take it easy, we ain't going anywhere.

ebb and flow. Unless you're trying to make a living off of blogging, I think all the "regular folk" doing this understand. We do it for fun and as an outlet. Sometimes, priorities take over.

As Neil Young said, "it's better to burn out than to fade away." We'll just chalk this up to temporary burnout (which happens to everyone...I just went through one on the blawg and am going through one at the day job) and see you when things settle down!

Good to know you haven't forgotten about all of us who hang on your every word!! It's kinda silly how much pressure and demand a blog that you started writing for creative outlet and joy can become. It and we will still be here when you find time for us!

Crazy week has been in the air, maybe the volcano erupting has made us all askew. Hope you have a more relaxing week and thanks for checking in! :)

Oh, and I like John's "habby" birthday to the hubby, I think that's perfect!
