Please Do
NOT do this. Oh Gawd, this looks so vile. A "cake" made from ground turkey and stuffing with mashed potatoes as frosting. I'm going to blame the Queen of Cheese Sandra Lee. Please don't do that but...
Please DO have a Happy Thanksgiving everyone.
Eat well
Drink better
Laugh loud
Take a moment to remember the faces and laughter of those that might not be able to rest their feet beneath the table of this years feast. Be thankful for their contribution, their seasoning of your memories. Honor them by finding joy in the picturing of them.
Most of all just be thankful for what you do have
For those you love
Those that love you in return
I wish I had a table large enough to invite each one of you that has touched my life
Said the absolute right thing
Made me feel loved and appreciated
Time and time again
I am so thankful to you all....
I will raise a glass
Whisper your names in my head
Smile thinking of you happily nibbling away at a table full of love and laughter
Feel thankful for
You
Cheers

ReplyDeleteMy Gorgeous Samantha,
ReplyDeleteNo one leads a more blessed life than me, so I actually need more than one meal and one day for all the thanks I need to give. Among other things, I am grateful for:
The 100 point scale--it's taught me so much about wine.
Mucus membranes--easily my favorite of the membrane family.
Yeast--they're not just for infections.
Whoever figured out to put tree bark in wine bottles--originally, I'm guessing, to attract Poodles.
Sectional couches--don't know why, I just am.
The miracle that is the human liver, and how delicious it is with onions.
Cotton undergarments--'nuff said.
But mostly, My Gorgeous Samantha, I am profoundly grateful for wine blogs bringing You into my life. I love you so much.
Happy Thanksgiving to Everyone here at Samantha's table.
Always so thoughtful and authentic...
ReplyDeleteHave a great thanksgiving with you and your loved ones.
xoxo

Thomas,
ReplyDeleteThank kid.
Ron My Love,
Back at you My Sweet Man and for the record, nearly lost my shit on "sectional couches"...you kill me oh and, I love you too!
Sonya,
My Petite girlie, I miss you. The new year, you and I, lets make a pact...one every couple months a get together k? My best to you and your family and give that Frenchman of yours a kiss for me!
Wow...fucking lot of typos there. Forgive me my post busy holiday craziness!
ReplyDeleteHappy TG, Sam!
ReplyDeleteSam--
ReplyDeleteI took your advice. I now have a hangover, indigestion, a pair of pants that no longer fits and house full of relatives--38 in all.
Yes, we have been laughing nonstop at everything, and that, more than anything else, is why we have to keep getting together. And will.
As I write this a gaggle of grandchildren are jumping on my bed and reciting some poem about monkies.
That cake makes me want to hurl.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the Thanksgiving wishes you sent me, they made me feel all nice and warm :-) xo
David,
ReplyDeleteBack at ya kid and cannot wait to be chilling with you in the North of Italy soon! Hope you had a great Birthday and Thanksgiving.
Charlie,
Okay kid, that literally made me tear up. I can picture your sweet face, your adorable gaze, welcoming smile as those sweet extensions of you and Therry bounce around upon your mattress and make you chuckle with tales of monkeys....their giggles your soundtrack as you check in with me. Thank you Sir Charles, thank you for this and for everything. I love you.
Sara,
Had to visit my ex-pat friend, give you lovins from home girlie.
So very well said...and you included a picture of a very odd culinary creation. I'd say this is the perfect post! Bravo Samantha!
ReplyDeleteSandra,
ReplyDeleteWell shit, I should retire if I've hit perfection. Thanks for stopping by lady, and for the sweet comment!
That cake looks spectacular. Glad to see culinary geniuses stretching the limits of what both delicious and a mastery of presentation.
ReplyDeleteHope you had a wonderful and relaxing Thanksgiving!
I hope you had a peaceful Thanksgiving - I know you drank something fabulous. We were talking about Pastis today - I thought of you - I still haven't tried it, but some time this week I'm going there. I'm in France - it must be done.

ReplyDeleteAnon,
ReplyDeleteI take almost all my pictures from Google images. Sorry if I took one of yours and it in some way bothers you. If you are that bunched about it let me know which it is and I will be more than happy to replace it.
